Kathy Lavinder founded SIPC in 2000, a member firm of the Gow & Partners World Team, after more than 20 years experience in corporate investigations, risk mitigation and journalism. In a career that has bridged these worlds, Kathy has developed unique insights and extensive contacts in many areas. She is the leading recruiter of senior security personnel in the United States.
Prior to SIPC, Kathy was with Investigative Group International, Inc, (IGI), at the firm's Washington, D.C. headquarters office. Kathy served as Managing Director and head of IGI's Washington, D.C. office during which time she recruited, hired and managed a staff of 20 investigators and research specialists. Kathy was also involved in locating and hiring personnel for IGI offices in the U.S. and abroad. As IGI's Director of Complex Investigations, Kathy organized and supervised teams of investigations for long-running, multifaceted investigations including internal investigations, theft of intellectual property, anti-competitive practices and anti-trust litigation matters and fraud investigations. Kathy was also an interview specialist who handled numerous critical and sensitive interview assignments with IGI.
Prior to IGI, Kathy was a writer and producer with ABC News in New York who prepared material for ABC anchors and correspondents. She also was General Manager of News Programming for ABC's six radio news networks. Programs she produced won almost every major news award. Prior to joining ABC, Kathy was News Director of WBZ Radio in Boston and a television reporter and anchor in Virginia. She has a Masters degree from Georgetown University.
Kathy is a frequent speaker on security industry topics and has been quoted in national publications. She is a member of ASIS International, the largest security organization in the world, as well as Women in Technology, Investigative Reporters and Editors and the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals
