NEW YORK, NEW YORK, 19th March 2008 -- Roddy Gow, Chairman of Gow & Partners World Team is pleased to announce that Sanjay Ramesh, a former U.S Foreign Service Officer, has joined the firm’s growing network, to be based in the Washington D.C. office.  Ramesh will focus on business development within government affairs and financial services, and also will serve as liaison with the firm’s Indian partner offices and with the Middle Eastern markets.  

Sanjay Ramesh is a highly experienced professional with significant international private and public sector experience. Before joining Gow & Partners, Sanjay was U.S Foreign Service Officer. He represented the United States in Canada, at the United Nations, and in Indonesia. Most recently, he was stationed in Washington, DC where he held the critically important Saudi Arabia and Qatar portfolio. During his tenure as a diplomat, Sanjay worked on key foreign policy issues such as border security, promotion of human rights and democracy, trade issues, and counter-terrorism, and received awards for his work at the State Department.

Before opting for public service, Sanjay worked for American Express from 1995-2002. He began his American Express career in the Strategic Planning Group in New York where he helped establish a major new retail financial services business. Following this, he was sent on an international assignment to Mumbai where he worked with the country management team to drive American Express Bank's India-strategy. He then relocated to London as Vice President on the card side of the business and was responsible for managing a global business line.

Sanjay has a BA and MA from Johns Hopkins and an MBA from Yale University. He has a strong working knowledge of French and Indonesian, is fluent in spoken Tamil, and has some knowledge of Hindi. He lives with his wife and daughter in the Washington, DC area.
